For the Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Chopped; basil can be substituted or omitted.
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Optional; can replace with Pecorino Romano or omit for a vegan option.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Boil a large pot of salted water. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté sliced garlic for 2 to 3 minutes until golden.
  3. Add red pepper flakes to the garlic and oil, stirring for 30 seconds to infuse.
  4. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain spaghetti.
  5. Combine drained spaghetti in the skillet with garlic and oil, tossing for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. Gradually add reserved pasta water until the pasta is well coated and glossy.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, adding chopped parsley, then mix well.
  8. Serve in bowls, topping with grated Parmesan if desired, and enjoy immediately.
