Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and beaten egg. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, stirring until dough begins to form.
  2. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Lightly grease a bowl and place the dough inside, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Wash and chop strawberries, pat dry. Combine with cinnamon and sugar in a medium bowl.
  5. Punch down the dough and transfer to a floured surface. Roll out into a rectangle and spread the strawberry filling evenly over.
  6. Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then prepare icing by mixing icing sugar with milk and optional strawberry extract. Drizzle over warm rolls.
