Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy for about 2-3 minutes. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  3. Gradually mix in all-purpose flour until you form a thick dough. Press two-thirds of the dough into the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes.
  4. In a saucepan, melt caramel candies with heavy cream over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
  5. Pour the caramel filling over the baked crust and sprinkle flaky sea salt over it.
  6. Crumble the reserved dough over the caramel filling, then return to the oven and bake for another 25-30 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool completely in the pan, then chill for 1 hour before slicing.
