Equipment

  • Mixing bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Meat Sauce: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and onion, cooking until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and stir in minced garlic, sautéing for just 1 minute. Mix in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried herbs, sugar, salt, and pepper. Allow to simmer uncovered for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  2. Make the Ricotta Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with beaten egg, grated Parmesan, and chopped parsley. Stir until smooth and well-blended.
  3. Assemble the Lasagna: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking pan, spread a thin layer of meat sauce, followed by a layer of cooked noodles, meat sauce, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with noodles topped with sauce and mozzarella.
  4. Bake the Lasagna: Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  5. Rest & Serve: Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Cut into squares and enjoy your classic lasagna!
